The Hold Steady - "Sequestered in Memphis"

I've been a fan of The Hold Steady for a few years now. I was very excited to hear this song XMU (XM radio station) the other day. They have an interesting sound that is very unique and probably acquired for most. "Sequestered In Memphis" is the first single off of their latest album Stay Positive. If you can get passed the vocal styling (which is something I like), this is great song about a short lived relationship with a catchy melody that begs to be shouted along with. One of the many things I love about the lyrics are they are clever but not mystic, you don't need a PhD to figure them out. A stand out lyric is the chorus:

"In bar light she looked alright.

In daylight she looked desperate.

That's alright, I was desperate too."

Let me know what you think...

First Post - Let's Do This

My wife inspired me to sit down and do this. She recently broke her foot and decide to record her thoughts at footproppedup.blogspot.com. She made it look easy so I thought that I would give it a shot.

Since my interests mainly focus around music that's what I'll cover here at FilteredSound. I know that as a society the amount of music grows daily. There's a lot to take in so I want to do my part to spotlight who/what I think are worthwhile songs and artists. In addition to new music, I will feature cover songs, classic modern rock (that doesn't sound right) and maybe a few album reviews. I welcome any suggestions as I am always looking for something new and I encourage your opinions and comments. Let's do this...
